There’s a saying that excess of anything is bad and this applies to workouts as well. People tend to think that doing exercise vigorously will help gain weight faster .But this is more of a myth than a fact because excess workout can lead to various problems like:
•	Injuries
•	Boredom
•	low productivity
•	low weight gain

After a hard workout schedule, rest is required since resting helps to build up new muscle tissue that had been damaged due to heavy workout and it takes some time i.e. a day more to get complete recovery, so in a way muscle is actually built in the rest period and Hence one should wait until the soreness or pain after your has completely gone to start working on that part of the body as absence of pain shows it has recovered to full extent.

To start workout before the muscles have fully repaired can have negative effect for the body as well as for you .If you start workout before recovery the partially repaired muscles will get damaged again as it will lead to breaking down of muscle tissues again and any improvement done during the recovery period will got to waste . This is one of the reasons most of the people who put in lot of effort by frequently during workout and not getting proper rest find lower results than there expectations, because they are putting the hard work without putting much of thought to it. And this shows in there lack of interest after sometime towards there workout they get bored quickly and face depression.

By resting for a muscle to recover completely one ensures that it gets the proper returns for your efforts with the best gain in the muscle tissue possible. One workout which is done in the correct manner supported by ample nutrition and adequate rest is equal to 10 workouts done with improper rest.

Another very important reason to get proper rest is related to metabolism, if you work out too often or too long it will increase your metabolism rate leading to burning of calories faster and in more quantity. By Reducing the duration and rate of your workouts you will indirectly burn less calories and since you will be burning fewer calories the more weight you will be able to gain and that too in lesser time.

So do not try to work the same muscle group for more than two days in regular instead give that muscle group rest of a day or two before going back on its workout again. It is also not advised to do the same type of workout on a frequent basis as it gives rise to repetitive stress injuries. If you are interested in doing exercise everyday rather than doing intensive and difficult workout, try to make out a schedule for low intensity workout as well as these light intensity workouts will act as a recovery workout and keep you fresh as well as injury free.

Doing frequent workout without rest will do you more damage than you can gain from it so it’s better to have rest for a certain period and come back fresh and energized rather than to permanently damage yourself.
