All the family members were anxious. Jun will be coming back home during this summer. After he went to the college, this will be his first return. His parent’s were so anxious that they almost failed to remember they have visited Jun’s hostel only a month back. But this is very much common for the parents. The moment Jun entered our house crossing the front door; everybody was stunned just about immediately.

But the thing that was catching everyone’s attention and everybody exclaimed that ‘Jun, you have put on weight my dear’. Jun ignored the chatter. But for many people, college weight gain cannot be brushed off so easily.

Researched have shown that most of the students put on some weight during their college days. Even though the matter has been observed for quite some times, the exact cause is still not been detected as people may think.

It is noticed that people put on 10 to 20 pounds of weight during their very first year of college days. Various reasons have been given as the cause of getting flabby over the abdomen while you start your college life. In fact some of the reasons are mostly understandable, if you closely look at the reality.

The most probable and obvious cause of this corpulence is the sense of freeness. The very first year in the college is viewed by the students as the opening of the new horizon from the bindings of their parents. Therefore the control is lost and they eat whenever and whatever they want to.

They just couldn’t careless to their diet. If you weigh against the control of their mom’s about their diet, the fresher in the college dive in the fountain of sodas and satiate with junk foods. The college canteen is the ideal place to consume more fat as they offer ‘ready-to-eat’ foods. They get appetizers, main course of the meal and the desserts. College people are likely to eat more in any campus.

One quite interesting fact has been noticed during the recent studies. College guys get more flabby than their female counterparts during their first year of staying in the college. Therefore, every college going boy has to take extra precaution. If they continue to live their current lifestyle, it is very much likely that they will become four to six times more flabby the day when they will leave the college.

Leading a sedentary lifestyle during college days is also another prominent cause for putting extra weight. Let alone eating healthy food, they are least bothered to exercise a little. They do their homework, library work, create study groups, experiments and of course go to parties.

The parties the college folks are used to go are full of French fries, sodas and all the junk foods in the world. Just think of the fat you are going to get during the next day. Just to socialize, college men eat like voracious eaters.

But you can stop the college weight gain if you become conscious. They have to become a little rational to their diet. They have to initiate this consciousness themselves. Without complaining to anybody and with little will power and determination, they can overcome the menace of gaining weight.
